| As the concepts of green and sustainable design have evolved, so have the way people define them. When Turnberry was founded in 2005, we committed to embrace new technologies that will offer our clients the value and innovation their lifestyles demand. We recognized the need to balance new construction with the environment and to embrace the most basic ways of achieving that harmony – through minimizing site disturbance, saving trees and utilizing natural landscapes where possible; home placement to maximize natural light and nature’s heating and cooling benefits; energy efficient appliances; low or no VOC paints; and improving our homes in ways you can’t see such as the use of PEX plumbing systems, tankless water heaters, and blown-in insulation.
The Turnberry Custom Homes team prides itself on the incorporation of the latest technological advancements - spending many hours each year in educational seminars, attending building trade shows, and researching to provide you with the best options for your new home, addition, or remodeling project. Turnberry also strives to educate homeowners on the many ways that they can incorporate green building techniques into new home construction and low-cost ways to upgrade features in existing homes that can save energy and reduce costs.

I first met Kevin at the Extreme Home Makeover site in Tilden Township. He was one of the leaders of this project, being the vice president of the Berks Home Builders Association and a knowledgeable contractor with great people skills. Later, when we needed a contractor to build a family room in the lower level of our house, I called Kevin to look at it. We had a basic plan of what we wanted but much detail. Kevin got to the details immediately, explaining the why’s and how’s, do’s and don’ts. We discussed options we would have never thought of, agreed on a plan, negotiated a price that we were very happy with, and the work began. The sub-contractors, framers, electricians, drywall installers and finishers, plumbers and painters, were all top quality people. Everyone Kevin sent to the house on this project was a professional, courteous, skilled tradesman. I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and meet a good number of tradesmen. Kevin has chosen some of the best available as his support team. Kevin doesn’t just turn his team loose. He’s not the type of contractor who is involved at the beginning of a project and then never seen again. Kevin was there almost every day to check what was done, how it was done and to be sure we were satisfied. In every case, after every phase of construction we were well pleased. Kevin also gave us a construction schedule and updates if a problem arose. The schedule was true to its dates and time limits. If a problem arose, Kevin was always available by cell phone and/or internet. Our family room was completed on time, as we discussed and per plan and the cost that had been agreed to. We recommended Turnberry Homes to our neighbors who were turning their basement into a woodshop on one side and a craft/quilting area on the other. Kevin met with our neighbors and the story goes on. PS. Even our dog loved Kevin, whenever his truck pulled in Duffy got a head start to run and greet him! |
