| I want to build a new home but how do I find a lot? Finding the "perfect"building lot can sometimes be a challenge. The easiest way is to have a realtor sign you up to receive updates thru the Trend service. This service will notify you via e-mail of any available listed building lots that fit within your criteria. The second is to knock on the front door of the home next to the vacant lot you have always had your eye on. It is very easy to do and the worst thing they could say would be no. Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Lastly, ask your builder. Often times, smaller builders will not hold onto an inventory of available building lots because it ties up their available cash flow. However most will have ties with developers and other builders for individual lot take down. |

I first met Kevin at the Extreme Home Makeover site in Tilden Township. He was one of the leaders of this project, being the vice president of the Berks Home Builders Association and a knowledgeable contractor with great people skills. Later, when we needed a contractor to build a family room in the lower level of our house, I called Kevin to look at it. We had a basic plan of what we wanted but much detail. Kevin got to the details immediately, explaining the why’s and how’s, do’s and don’ts. We discussed options we would have never thought of, agreed on a plan, negotiated a price that we were very happy with, and the work began. The sub-contractors, framers, electricians, drywall installers and finishers, plumbers and painters, were all top quality people. Everyone Kevin sent to the house on this project was a professional, courteous, skilled tradesman. I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and meet a good number of tradesmen. Kevin has chosen some of the best available as his support team. Kevin doesn’t just turn his team loose. He’s not the type of contractor who is involved at the beginning of a project and then never seen again. Kevin was there almost every day to check what was done, how it was done and to be sure we were satisfied. In every case, after every phase of construction we were well pleased. Kevin also gave us a construction schedule and updates if a problem arose. The schedule was true to its dates and time limits. If a problem arose, Kevin was always available by cell phone and/or internet. Our family room was completed on time, as we discussed and per plan and the cost that had been agreed to. We recommended Turnberry Homes to our neighbors who were turning their basement into a woodshop on one side and a craft/quilting area on the other. Kevin met with our neighbors and the story goes on. PS. Even our dog loved Kevin, whenever his truck pulled in Duffy got a head start to run and greet him! |
